2010 brings the 10 year anniversary of the MOVE Programme in the UK. Along with all of our volunteer Practitioners, Trainers and Consultants we have helped to transform the lives of thousands of the most disabled children and adults.
To commemorate our fantastic achievements we will be celebrating in a number of different ways, asking all of our supporters to join in with us.
MOVE Celebrates 10 years at St James's Palace with a special awards ceremony
A reception and award ceremony was held on 13th July 2010, at St James’s Palace to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and acknowledge the difference the MOVE Programme has made to the lives of thousands of disabled children and adults, their families and care teams throughout the UK and Europe. The event was attended by our charity patron, HRH The Countess of Wessex, who presented awards to groups for their outstanding contribution in supporting our work.
The Countess presented five awards to various branches of the MOVE network who have gone that extra mile to support the development of MOVE over the years, whether it be supporting the charity out in the field or raising funds for us to ensure our work can continue.
Awards went to a remarkable family, the Marshalls, who have worked to raise the profile of the charity and vital funds for the programme’s expansion; the Derbyshire Team for their development of the MOVE Programme throughout the county for everyone aged 0-65; the Palestine Development Team who were responsible for allowing the development of 6 rehabilitation centres with the MOVE Programme for children in Palestine; the Macedonia Development Team who have helped to raise the charity’s profile in the country and also the Friends of MOVE Hampshire group, who have tirelessly organised fundraising activities providing over £40,000 in three years to enable the charity to develop the programme in Hampshire.
MOVE Europe’s CEO Peter Holland comments, “We were thrilled to hold this event at St James’s Palace to thank some of those supporters who have made our work so successful. We are delighted to have been able to show our appreciation with the help of our patron"
